Go karts are very expensive, but the thrill and joy it gives does not know any age limit. Any one who can drive, young or old, can have that experience.
The exhilarating feeling, a natural high, will take you to dreaming of joining competitions. The first step in pursuing your dream is to purchase your very own go kart. The expense it entails is nothing to the thrill of driving and getting a chance at winning a race. You may not have the means to purchase a brand new go kart and might have to settle for a second-hand one. It is alright, as long as you remember that the key is to get value for what you are paying for. There are many second-hand stores and garages that sells cheap go karts. An internet search will also yield good results. Limit your search to nearby areas which you can visit so that you can inspect the go kart before you pay for it.
On your actual inspection of the cheap go kart, you would do better to ask to test-drive it. As you drive, pay attention to the smoothness of each turn of the steering wheel. There should be no resistance, stuck-ups or even a single cricking sound. Inspect the tires for its usage and make sure they are not too worn out. You would want to practice using those tires and reserve the purchase of new ones sometime before a race. Before making a bid or before trying to haggle for the price, ask the seller the make, model and year of the go kart you have chosen. If it is more than five years of age, drop it and find another one. There might no longer be any parts available and you will just be stuck with a useless, cheap go kart. Also, ask the seller how many crashes the go kart has been involved in. If it is more than two, find another one. It might no longer be as sturdy as it looks. Lastly, use this knowledge to bargain with the seller. Follow these tips and you will definitely find a cheap go kart that can still pack a lot of power.
